What is the First Pét-Nat Opener?
The First Pét-Nat Opener was designed and handcrafted by the slow-design start-up Sekhina, which also designs and makes high-performance concrete objects. The opener was invented to address a known issue of opening high-pressure pet nat in a safe and fun way, making it possible for winemakers, restaurant staff, and any pét-nat lovers to serve this wine in a hassle-free way. Until introducing this opener, pét-nat was only opened under water or using unsafe tools (e.g. nails, etc.) with a loss of precious juice and taste. Also, pét-nat was sold only with low pressure (disgorged) in stores and wineries to make sure people could open it. But that also meant that the particular flavor and diversity of unique fruity tastes were also lost. NOT ANYMORE with the FIRST PÉT-NAT OPENER.
-
How long does it take to open an un-disgorged pét-nat with the SEKHINA opener?
Depending on the age of the pét-nat and its natural sugar level (these are also impacting the pressure) it may take from 10 to 15 minutes or even more, gradually releasing pressure and producing microbubbles that are fun to watch dissolving during the process.
-
Why it is a must to have tool for pét-nat fans?
Using the opener enables pét-nat lovers to 1. open pét-nat gradually letting the high-pressure out thus preserving the unique taste 2. do this in a safe way that makes it possible to serve un-disgorged pét-nat anywhere without losing even one sip of the juice. 3. open pét-nat as part of a social event among friends and associates.
-
Can I open a pét-nat without the First Pét-Nat Opener?
Yes, BUT not without sacrificing quality and quantity. Using current methods (disgorging underwater, fast cooling, or using a simple needle/pin) lead to loss of taste, fruitiness, and quantity when or before opening reducing the joy of drinking.

-
Is it safe to use the Sekhina pét-nat opener?
Yes, it is perfectly safe as it was designed to protect people and control the opening of high-pressure pét-nat. Even if the opening pin is screwed down quickly and lets the pressure out gradually, some liquid will slowly be spilled over the top of the bottle but into the cooler not even causing any damage to the environment.
-
What is the best way to use the opener?
There is no best way but there is recommended way. Take a high-pressure pét-nat at the serving temperature. Before you place it into the concrete vessel, do not forget to twist the mini LED light and place it inside at the bottom of the vessel. Once you place your pét-nat into the concrete vessel, and you attached the wooden frame to it, pierce the crown cap gently with the threaded pin. When slightly releasing the pin, the pressure in the bottle will start to escape, leaving you in total control. Gradually screw the opening pin down and check how far the bubbles go up. Once they reach almost the top of the bottle, gradually screw the pin up until bubbles and pressure settle. When there is no pressure left in the bottle, you can open the cap with the crown cap opener attached to the side of the wooden frame. Enjoy your pét-nat! The screw pierces the crown cap and releases gas, and what is the purpose of this? Just to let out excess gas? Or should one then pour the wine through the small hole made by the screw?
The purpose is to be able to release the gas very slowly. After the gas is released, you can open the cap with the crown cap opener which is attached to the wooden frame part of the opener (or with any regular crown cap opener).
